Beer to Beer: Two Lagers, One Review

Bevees’ Beer to Beer cracks open the latest and greatest non-alcoholic brews from around B.C., Canada, and the world to help you decide how to spend your hard-earned dough.

There's no doubt about it: Summer is here. So slip on a shirt, slop on some sunscreen, slap on a hat, and crack open one of these easy-drinking, lager-style beers.

Grüvi Non-Alcoholic Golden Lager

An innovator in non-alcoholic beverages, Grüvi produces a reliable range of booze-free wine and beer.

So it's no surprise their Golden lager is a winner ⏤ a gold-medal winner for Non-Alcoholic Beer at the 2022 World Beer Cup Awards, no less.

Brewed by Neologik Brewing in Colorado, Grüvi Golden pours a tantalizing translucent yellow and coalesces in a lively head with lingering effervescence.

The smell is ⏤ as one might expect from a lager ⏤ not the main attraction.

Instead it's the way it hits your lips, teases your tongue, and pleases your palate. Which it does delightfully. And it finishes true to style: crisp and clean with a slight hoppy finish.

Keep these on hand if you want to crush a crispy boy… or six.

Gluten-reduced (less than 20 ppm), vegan-friendly, and 60 calories per can, this is a lager that's truly "ideal for all day drinking," as their website suggests.

Grüvi Non-Alcoholic Golden Lager and Juicy IPA are available at Bevees.

Untitled Art American Gold

Following in the footsteps of Ontario's Collective Arts Brewing, Untitled Art in Waunakee, Wisconsin, works with local artists to design eye-catching labels for their beers.

So it only makes sense that what's inside the cans is as compelling as what's outside.

Untitled Art boasts an impressive line-up of canned cocktails, seltzers, CBD sparkling waters, and beers (alcoholic and non).

And with varieties like Citra Haze, Lychee Sherbet, and Mango Dragonfruit Fruited Sour, Untitled Art appears to take non-alcoholic beer very seriously.

Their website describes American Gold as "full-flavored," and that's no lie.

Poured from the can, it forms a fluffy finger of head that slowly fades.

Again, true to style, the aroma is almost an afterthought. But the mouthfeel and flavour, well… Zippy. Peppy. Well-balanced. Surprisingly complex. Utterly thirst-quenching. Yes ⏤ full-flavoured.

Weighing in at only 35 calories, American Gold punches well above its weight-class, mimicking the higher ABV of a Dortmunder-style lager in its complexity.

Find it at Bevees alongside many other Untitled Art offerings.

Grüvi Non-Alcoholic Golden Lager and Untitled Art American Gold are available now at Bevees in Port Coquitlam, home to Greater Vancouver's largest selection of booze-free beverages. Shop today at https://boozefreebevees.ca.
